Next Super Conductors & Magnets

24 - 26 October 2012

Superconductivity and its applications: experiments on show, Hall 14 - Stand G2

The show on superconductivity by Apogeo Ambiente is back at HTE for the second year.
By means of a series of experiments, the show will aim to explain both the fundamental physical properties of superconductivity, as well as the properties at the base of its applications. The show, in fact, is made up of experimental benches, each dedicated to a phenomena (or to one of its applications), and each with a poster board explaining the experiment or application.
The benches and poster panels were designed by Apogeo Ambiente, in collaboration with Prof. Andrea Perali of the Department of Physics of the University of Camerino, with the aim of realizing a route that is useful for different groups of users: students, general public, experts. Spectators will have a guide that will lead them in the visit to the show, adpting each time, as per the needs and demands of the spectators, explanations and tecnica information and news.

Experiments dedicated to typical superconductivity phenomena

  • Meissner effect: expulsion of the external magnetic field and magnetic levitation
  • Magnetic vortexes and suspension: properties of type II supeconductors
  • Permanence of and induced current

Experiments dedicated to applications

  • Magnetic levitation model train
